Mildred Azzopardi’s daughter, Amy, has taken to social media to invite the parents of her mother’s alleged killer to Mildred’s final farewell.

Azzopardi was tragically crushed between two cars when a Subaru Impreza crashed into a parked Ford Fiesta on the side of the street at Ta’ Liesse, Valletta on 27th July. The Subaru Impreza was driven by 23-year-old soldier, Benjamin Chetcuti, who was charged with involuntary homicide and granted bail last Tuesday.

“If you have respect and value dignity as you preached, we hereby invite you to pay respect to our deceased mother due to the murder caused by the son you raised, to attend her funeral on Saturday,” wrote Amy on social media.

Azzopardi’s funeral will be held on 2nd August at 9.15am at the Floriana Saint Publius Church. Attendees were encouraged to wear Mildred’s favourite colours, turquoise and orange, to reflect her vibrant spirit.

“The least you can do (since we had no apology for what your son has caused) would be to come pay respect to her: A prayer, a minute.. at least.”

Amy went on to say that her mother attended church and practiced the word of God, and asked Chetcuti’s parents to have some remorse “if you raised him right.”
