A sub post office, operated by former PN Siġġiewi councillor Francine Farrugia, will be “temporarily closed” from today until 23rd August, following charges made against her for embezzlement.

“MaltaPost would like to inform the public that the Sub Post Office in Siġġiewi, “Il-Mafkar Gift Box”, located at 179, Triq it-Tabib Nikol Zammit, Siġġiewi SGW 1071, will be closed between Friday 8 and Saturday 23 August 2025, both days inclusive,” wrote MaltaPost on its social media platforms.

It went on to say that the public can use the postal services provided by the Żebbug Post Office located at Triq Sciortino, Żebbug ZBG 1962 for this time.

Farrugia is a former PN councillor who is currently facing charges of embezzling €2.3 million from MCAST. According to the police’s testimony, Farrugia issued double salaries to her bank and Revolut accounts.

Investigators found that Farrugia had purchased a property in Malta and entered into several promise-of-sale agreements for other properties. She also purchased vehicles and luxury clothes, and once splashed out €113,000 on clothes and jewellery from Harrods.
