Prices for the new fast ferry service – announced earlier this week – which is set to link Mġarr (Gozo), Buġibba, and Sliema have just been revealed.

The service, which will run daily from March to October with 22 trips per day, aims to connect Malta and Gozo more efficiently, with each journey between Gozo and Sliema expected to take around 75 minutes. During the winter months (November to February), the frequency will drop to 16 trips per day.

Ticket prices will vary depending on your route and eligibility. A standard one-way trip between Sliema and Gozo will cost €8.50, reduced to €6.50 for Tallinja card holders. Gozo ID holders will benefit from the lowest fare at €2.25, while students can travel for €4.50, seniors and people with disabilities for €3, and children under 10 for €4. Children under three and individuals with public hospital appointments can travel for free.

A €37.4 million tender has already been issued for the service, with strict requirements for the operator. Bidders must show a minimum of €1.5 million in annual revenue for the past three years. The ferry must also accommodate at least 200 passengers, be weather-resistant, and include onboard facilities.

This new shuttle could be a game-changer for commuters, students, and families travelling between the islands, especially with the influx of travellers in summer.
