The Second Arrest: 26-Year-Old Maltese Bouncer To Be Charged Over NYE Beating As More Footage Emerges

A second bouncer is expected to be charged over the brutal Paceville beating that occurred on New Year’s Eve and circulated on social media across Malta this week.
The 26-year-old resident of Gżira will appear in court this afternoon and is expected to face charges including using an unregistered weapon that inflicted serious injuries to another person.
He is due to appear before Magistrate Joseph Gatt at 2.30pm.
Meanwhile, more footage was sent to Lovin Malta of the attack earlier today, showing the moments before Sudanese student Idriss Ahmed Adem was thrown to the ground.
In footage exclusively sent to Lovin Malta earlier this week, Adem can be seen receiving a violent beating by five bouncers who hit him with what looked like retractable batons, threw him to the ground, and kicked him viciously in the face.
Speaking to Lovin Malta, Adem stated that he was asked for his ID at the door of Havana and he showed them a photo of his “yellow document”, a leaflet issued by immigration police to asylum seekers who are found ineligible for refugee status. He is appealing this decision.
The bouncers didn’t accept this and Adem questioned it which then prompted one of the bouncers to push and punch him in the face. He was also allegedly hit by another bouncer. He then approached the police who urged him to make a report at the station – Adem warned the police that he was going to fight the bouncers himself and the officers allegedly let him go.
This is what prompted the fight in which Adem told Lovin Malta he was pushed to the ground which caused a glass bottle to shatter. He said he then picked up a piece of glass a threw it in “self defence”.
