The sister of Christian Pandolfino, a man who was shot in his home in Sliema alongside his partner, said that the court system “miserably failed” explaining that the accused murderers will soon be eligible for bail.

Christian Pandolfino and Ivor Maciejowski were shot and murdered in their home in a suspected robbery in 2020.

Three men have since been charged with the murder; Jesper Kristiansen (who pleaded guilty), Daniel Muka and Viktor Dragomanski. Albanian Muka is believed to have pulled the trigger while out on bail for a jewellery heist during which he has been accused of trying to shoot two police men.

“Muka was out on bail when he murdered them! I can’t imagine how we will cope if he is out on bail again! Nearly five years on we are still waiting for justice,” Daniela Pandolfino, the sister of one of the victims wrote on social media.

“My father has passed away in the meantime and he wanted to live to see them sentenced for life. The system has failed us (and many other families) miserably and we have to continue going through all the pain and suffering for so many years.”

Matthew Caruana Galizia shared the statement to his Facebook page, writing: “To acknowledge or admit the issues that deeply affect all Maltese people in the field of Justice is not politics, but a cry and a declaration of great need, as if a thirsty person were crying out for water.”

The families of both victims have consistently spoken out about the court delays in the case involving their loved ones, detailing the pain and fear they face at the thought of Muka being granted bail.

They’ve accused Muka of deliberately postponing justice, having successfully delayed two trial dates by changing his lawyers at the last minute. They argue this is an attempt to exploit a system already weakened by cracks, potentially allowing a murderer to walk free.
