‘This Is A Win For Malta And Gozo’: Roberta Metsola Celebrates After Delia’s Landmark Vitals-Steward Case Win
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has just reacted to the judgement of the Vitals-Steward case, saying that this is a win for all of Malta and Gozo.
This comes after PN MP Adrian Delia won a landmark case against the government over the Vitals-Steward hospitals deal.
“The Court’s decision in the case opened by Adrian Delia against the Government is a victory for the Maltese and Gozitan people and makes a difference in people’s lives,” Metsola wrote on social media shortly after the decision.
“The decision shows that the contracts were not in the interest of healthcare workers and even less so of patients.”
“From the very beginning, the message to the Government was clear: do not sell the hospitals,” Metsola said.
“We are committed to continuing to act in the interest of all Maltese and Gozitans,” she assured.
Judge Francesco Depasquale today ordered the annulment of the deal and the return of the three hospitals to the government, with all costs to be borne by Steward Malta.
Delia’s case, which he filed almost five years ago, calls for the scrapping of the concession that placed Vitals Global Healthcare, and later Steward Healthcare, in charge of the St Luke’s, Karin Grech, and Gozo hospitals.
