A three-year-old girl suffered grievous injuries in a traffic accident that occurred last night in Kalkara.

The accident involved a 33-year old man who is a resident of Kalkara and a 22-year-old woman who is a resident of Ħaż-Żabbar.

Accompanying the woman in the car there was another 21-year-old woman with two children, aged three and four. 

Assistance was given by the medical team and members of the Department for Civil Protection.

The three-year-old girl was taken to hospital by ambulance and was later certified to be suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are underway.
