After an infestation of rats, cats and mountains of garbage, Sliema residents have decided to speak out. A protest will be held tonight at Fond Għadir, Sliema at 7pm.

The residents of the locality will be protesting for better quality of life, action to prevent the obscene amount of garbage littering the streets and the rats making their home around it, as well as the dangerous e-scooters.

The scooters have been blocking pavements and even impeding users of wheelchairs and strollers, trash is rotting on every street corner and residents have had enough – so much so that Sliema mayor John Pillow has resorted to naming and shaming people disposing of garbage incorrectly.

“People take out the black garbage a day after the grey bag is being collected and then throw out the garbage scheme in the same bag! When are we ever going to learn?” Pillow said.
