‘Toroq Imħarbtin Għalik’: Swieqi Residents Erect Parody Sign Shedding Light On Shoddy Roads

Swieqi residents have erected a sign with the phrase “Toroq Imħarbtin Għalik” parodying its neighbouring sign stating “Toroq Aħjar Għalik”: a common slogan propped up in Maltese towns by Infrastructure Malta.

“Swieqi residents are one of the localities that we pay a high amount of taxes, and we don’t cost the government much in expenses, we don’t have healthcare centres, no schools and elderly homes,” a resident told Lovin Malta.

The slogan translates to “shoddy roads for you” parodying the original phrase that ensures “better roads for you”. Residents did this to highlight the irony of such a phrase when their roads remain extremely bumpy and uneven.

Meanwhile, instead of Infrastructure Malta, the sign features “In-Fractured Road Malta” which requires no explanation.

“All we ask for are roads that don’t destroy our cars and cause danger to residents. Infrastructure Malta has promised this road for 10 years now,” the resident concluded.

Are you a Swieqi resident frustrated with the roads?
