Stuck In Traffic? This Is How Long It Takes Cyclists To Do Their Daily Commute In Malta
The return of the scholastic year meant one thing for drivers across the island: a major increase in traffic within days.
And no, there are no feasts or marching bands to blame this time, just poor infrastructure and an influx of private vehicles on the roads, with no proper bike lanes for alternative transportation.
Drivers have been reporting the most absurd times to get from one place to another, with one even detailing how it took him three hours to drive from Mqabba to the University of Malta.
And through all this chaos, it’s becoming more common to witness a cyclist zooming by effortlessly while people curse the standstill traffic from theirs, and they don’t even need to hassle for parking either!
Lovin Malta collaborated with the local environmental NGO Rota, which helped collect travelling routes and time from their community of cyclists.
With the help of these cyclists, we managed to gather a variety of different routes, covering the central, north, south, east and west regions of Malta.
