Traffic Gridlock At St Peter’s Pool: Chaos On Delimara Road Raises Concerns From Residents

Traffic chaos at St Peter’s Pool, Marsaxlokk via Delimara main road is on the rise following years of inconvenience in the same roads.

“As summer approaches, the situation at the access road to St. Peter’s Pool is becoming increasingly unbearable. The influx of tourists — predominantly arriving via cab services (Y-plates) — is growing exponentially each year. This is causing serious traffic congestion along the narrow Delimara main road, where in some places, only one vehicle can pass at a time,” a concerned resident told Lovin Malta.

The resident went on to say how cab drivers stop their vehicles in the middle of the road as they pick up or drop off passengers, causing bottlenecks and blockages.

“These traffic jams are not only frustrating for local residents and swimmers heading to the area, but are also negatively impacting key stakeholders, including farmers and residents who rely on smooth access to their properties,” the resident said.

Apart from the inconvenience caused in the roads nearby, one must keep in mind that the same roads that are experiencing traffic chaos, are the routes that would be used by the Delimara Power Station should an emergency occur. Thus, the road block is a safety hazard that could lead to a critical situation with nation-wide consequences.

The resident finished off their statement urging the competent authorities to address this issue with a structured and sustainable plan.
