Tributes Pour In For Maltese Fashion Designer Drew Warhurst
Maltese fashion designer, Drew Warhurst, who has dressed some of the most beloved performers on the island, has tragically passed away.
Friends and clients in the industry were shocked to hear of his passing earlier this morning, with several tributes pouring in, in celebration of his beloved personality and exceptional talent.
Unfortunately, his untimely death happened just days after his mother’s passing, according to a heartbreaking tribute posted by his sister.
“I am lost for words….. and cannot believe what has just hit me in the last few weeks. It all happened so quickly and I haven’t come to terms with all this sadness and heartbreaking episodes.”
“I cannot believe I will never hear your voice and see you again Andrew, always making others happy, full of life, so talented and so heart-giving.”
“I am sure you are in a better place reunited with our mother.”
Described as a man who brought happiness into the lives of others, Drew designed several pieces for artists all over the island, including Emma Muscat, Ira Losco, Gaia Cauchi, and Destiny Chukunyere.
In fact, Muscat shared a tearjerking social media post, honouring the late designer.
“Nobody prepares you for this. I can’t believe you left us. Drew, we shared so many beautiful moments and achievements together,” she said.
“You always lit up the room with your bubbly character and laugh and always managed to calm my nerves before a big event. Having you near me making sure everything was to perfection.”
“Wearing your beautiful creations and designs, leaving your mark on the world has been my absolute honour. I am going to miss you so much, Drew. Nothing will ever be the same without you. Thank you for everything. Rest in peace, my gentle friend.”
Drew dressed Muscat for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy. He designed the dress that she was seen wearing at the Turquoise Carpet ceremony as well as the stunning piece she wore for the semi-finals of the contest.
“I’m so sorry, my dear friend, your passion and creations will forever live on. You will be deeply missed! Rest easy you beautiful soul,” Gaia Cauchi wrote on Facebook.
“In the tapestry of life, we weave the memory of a dear friend and exceptional fashion stylist, Drew Warhurst,” a friend wrote.
“His kindness, infectious laughter, and boundless potential illuminated our journey together. As we remember him, let’s cherish the threads of love and creativity he left behind. Though he may be gone, his spirit lives on in the beauty he created and the warmth he shared. Rest in eternal peace, our beloved friend.”
