Tributes Pour In For Manuel And Doris Buhagiar After Fatal Car Accident
Tributes are flooding social media for Manuel Buhagiar, 73, and his wife Doris, 69, from Żebbuġ, who sadly lost their lives in a horrific crash in Sicily on Wednesday.
The couple were driving their Malta-registered Toyota Yaris when it collided head-on with a truck along the Catania–Ragusa road near Lentini at around 3pm. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, both Manuel and Doris were killed on impact.
Manuel, a former Malta Police officer, was widely respected and remembered as a kind, exemplary man. The Malta Police Union issued a statement expressing its condolences, while relatives and friends took to social media to share their shock and grief.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Ministry has confirmed it is assisting the family during this incredibly difficult time.
Manuel and Doris leave behind children and grandchildren, and their loss has shaken not just their loved ones, but the wider Maltese community.
