Throughout this week, the police conducted a series of routine traffic inspections across several localities in Malta.

The checks were carried out in Żebbuġ, Qormi, St Paul’s Bay, Luqa, Paola, Birżebbuġa, Żejtun, Msida, Ħamrun and Kirkop. During these operations, officers found around 20 drivers operating vehicles without a valid licence, while four others were caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

The inspections also revealed 24 vehicles exceeding the permitted speed limits, including one car clocked at 137 km/hr in a 70 km/hr zone. In total, the authorities issued approximately 150 additional traffic contraventions for various other violations of road regulations.

Officers from the Local Enforcement System Agency (LESA) assisted the police in some of these roadside checks.

The Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to continue conducting regular traffic enforcement operations at all times of the day, with the goal of ensuring the safety of all road users across Malta.
