Watch: Amanda Muscat Dodges Journalist’s Questions While Working At Her And Clayton Bartolo’s Café
Amanda Muscat dodged a Sidestreet Malta journalist’s question while she was working at her café co-owned by her husband, former Tourism Minister Clayton Bartolo.
Muscat and Bartolo have been in the hot seat this past month after news emerged that she was given a lucrative job she did not do by her husband. Meanwhile, earlier today, the Times of Malta revealed that she is currently under investigation for suspected Malta Tourism Authority kickbacks amounting to €50,000.
Bartolo resigned from his position and was expelled from the Labour Party earlier today, prompted by questions sent by the Times of Malta regarding the most recent scandal.
While working at their establishment Tax-Xalluwa Café Bar, Muscat was approached by Maltese journalist and Swieqi Deputy Mayor Jordan Galea Pace who asked her a series of questions regarding the controversies.
Muscat responded with a nervous giggle multiple times, to which the journalist replied “this isn’t a laughing matter, this is the public’s money”. She went on to ask Galea Pace to let her work.
After trying to avoid answering Galea Pace’s repeated questions, Muscat finally said that she will be paying back the difference of her consultancy job which saw her earn a whopping €68,000 annually despite doing secretarial work.
She refused to say how much this difference amounts to and ended by asking if he wanted a coffee.
“Thank you but I’d prefer the difference,” he quickly shot back.
