Metsola was addressing questions from law attending the Austrian university when a contingent of pro-Palestine protestors confronted her regarding the Gaza conflict.

The students asked the EP President why the EU hasn’t taken measures to facilitate the passage of humanitarian aid through Gaza’s borders and urged her to advocate for an arms embargo against Israel, as per the Iranian state-owned news website PressTV.

The outlet also claimed that following the disturbance, some of the protesters were escorted out of the hall.

The EP President reportedly emphasised that the the Parliament was the the sole European institution advocating for a lasting ceasefire in the Middle East conflict.

The reason for Metsola’s appearance at the Austrian University was part of her efforts to try and motivate Europe’s youth to engage in politics, ahead on the upcoming MEP elections this June.
