Watch: ‘I Thought It Was Dying’: Man Encounters Struggling Hedgehog In Need Of Some Water

Wholesome footage has emerged of a man helping a struggling hedgehog which was in need of some hydration in Malta’s sweltering heat.
The man that encountered the hedgehog first thought that he was dying, as the creature was not moving much.
“He was alone. Usually, they stay with the family. At first, I thought he was dying, but after some water, he started to move,” the man told Lovin Malta.
He proceeded to give him water, and as soon as the hedgehog was hydrating, its energy levels started to rise.
The man encountered the hedgehog yesterday afternoon at around 6.30pm in Bugibba, somewhere between the casino and Cafe del Mar.
The most common hedgehog found in Malta is not even Maltese – it is the one known as the Algerian hedgehog.
The Algerian hedgehog, which grows up to 20-25cm, is a terrestrial mammal with a pointed snout, small round ears and a body covered by characteristic long, rigid and spiny hairs.
