Watch: ‘Lanqas Evidenza’: Former President Delivers Powerful Speech At El Hiblu 3 Protest
Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca delivered a powerful speech at a manifestation in front of the law courts aimed at showing solidarity for the five years that the El Hiblu 3 have spent in debilitating legal limbo.
“They don’t even have evidence,” she exclaimed, before stressing that human rights are universal, applying to everyone not just locals.
She emphasised that these boys committed heroic acts, not crimes, saving 120 people from torture: “What more could they have done”.
“These youths had to endure continuous confinement and dehumanising restrictions, which didn’t allow them to live a normal life. The accusations against them are inhumane and unjust. Free the El Hiblu 3,” the organisers of the demonstration wrote on social media.
This demonstration was organised by the Coalition for the El Hiblu 3 which will give the young men an award for being human rights defenders.
