Watch: Marsa Scrapyard Blaze Prompts Safety Warnings By CPD

A fire broke out in a scrapyard in Marsa earlier today and firefighters from the Civil Protection Department (CPD) are currently controlling it.

The CPD urged to avoid Triq Garibaldi due to safety concerns and ongoing emergency response operations on social media. The road has been closed off by authorities. 

Several people that work in the vicinity have been evacuated after sounds of car explosions were heard.

Residents in nearby towns and villages including Paola and Tarxien are advised to keep all doors and windows closed as a precaution against smoke and fumes.

This is the second scrapyard fire reported in Malta in recent weeks.
