Nepalese nationals organised a vigil for Khim Bahadur Pun who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run in Birkirkara on Sunday morning.

The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) took to Facebook to express their shock at the news of Pun’s death due to a tragic road accident. NRNA’s president, Rems Khanal, announced a fundraiser to help repatriate Pun’s body to Nepal and €5,328 were collected by 8pm yesterday evening. Up until this morning, more than €10,700 have been raised.

Pun moved to Malta three years ago and supported his three children by working as a food courier.

According to the police, the 42-year-old victim, who was a resident in Birkirkara, died after a Maserati Levante crashed into the Kymco motorbike he was driving.

After the impact, the Maserati crashed into three parked vehicles and three people inside it fled the scene on foot. The alleged 17-year-old driver and his father have been arrested.
