Watch: Red Cross Stops Divers And Tourists From Jumping Into Coral Lagoon Amid Rough Seas
Members from Malta’s Red Cross were recently at Coral Lagoon to stop people from jumping into the picturesque natural sea cave amid rough seas.
In a video sent to Lovin Malta, members from the Red Cross can be seen explaining to a number of swimmers and sunbathers why it’s dangerous to jump into the cave.
Speaking with Lovin Malta, the humanitarian organisation said they stop tens of people from jumping into the cave on a daily basis, due to health concerns.
“Tens of people are stopped every day from jumping into the Coral Lagoon due to rough seas,” a representative told Lovin Malta.
Referring back to a fatal incident that happened in recent years, they warned that it’s highly dangerous to perform acts such as diving into the cave, especially when the sea is rough due to high winds.
Back in 2019, a 25-year-old Colombian man had lost his life after he had jumped into the cave, being reported missing after experiencing difficulty while swimming.
And apart from that, earlier this summer, a Red Cross mission was initiated after Maltese youths found themselves in trouble after jumping from the same cliff.
Consider this your warning: as tempting as it may be, do not jump into the Coral Lagoon cave, because you might endanger yourself and others in the act.
