Watch: Rescue Team Uses Crane To Lift Woman With Fractured Hip To 4th-Floor Balluta Apartment
A Serbian woman was lifted back to her 4th-floor apartment in St Julian’s after a fractured hip from a scooter accident left her unable to move without excruciating pain.
Last week, influencer Milka Vujic, who has been living in Malta for the last four years, was left with a fractured hip after falling off her own scooter at 11pm in Balluta Square. But she couldn’t make it back home without the assistance of Malta’s Rescue Team.
“I want to express my gratitude for the rescue team because without them I wouldn’t be able to go home – they are amazing.”
Being badly hurt after the accident, she was lucky to have found assistance from a group of Portuguese tourists who called for an ambulance and waited with her before she was then transported to Mater Dei Hospital for medical assistance.
“After the X-ray, doctors told me I have a fractured hip and my arm is heavily injured. Thankfully, no need for surgery and I just need to rest and wait,” Vujic told Lovin Malta.
However, due to her apartment being on the fourth floor, and the lift being very small, they couldn’t find a way to bring her up to her residence.
“After the release from the hospital, the ambulance couldn’t find a solution to bring me into the apartment, and literally in 10 minutes, Malta’s rescue team came and helped to bring me safely into the apartment using a crane,” Vujic said.
“Those guys were extremely gentle and careful because even a small movement of my legs was extremely painful.”
