Watch: Resident Swears As Enemalta Carries Out Disruptive Works At 2am In Valletta

Works related to a power outage in Valletta were recently carried out in the middle of the night, awakening residents from their slumber and preventing them from going back to sleep.

Videos received by Lovin Malta feature a resident swearing as she filmed the works taking place at 2am along Strait Street in Valletta.

“So bars cannot have music, but at 2am this is okay? They’re waking up the whole city, what the hell? Oh my god,” she said.

Upon reaching out to Infrastructure Malta and Transport Malta, both entities said that they are not responsible for the works carried out, but it was Enemalta.

“The works in question were carried out by Enemalta. These works were to be carried out immediately in view of residential consumers being without an electrical supply,” a Transport Malta representative told Lovin Malta.

While the prospect of emergency works can be understood, it can be argued that such works in the middle of a residential area should not be taking place at such sensitive times.
