The Velts, a Malta-based band ranging from post-punk to psychedelic rock, recently released a visual video from their second studio production dubbed ‘Past Times’.

Sean Borg (Vocals, Guitar), Matthew Cardona (Bass, Backing Vocals), Stephen Pace Asciak (Drums) and Alistair Abela (Guitar, Keys and Backing Vocals) are the performing band members which in whole make this sonic concoction rock.

The Velts burst onto the Maltese music scene with a series of powerful live performances, quickly making a name for themselves with their intoxicating blend of post-punk aggression and psychedelic expansiveness.

Their performances have become legendary, reflecting the raw, emotive power of their music, and igniting a vibrant, dedicated fan base as such being one of the leading pioneers in Malta’s current rock scene.

Their debut studio album, “Alphabet,” evidently made a significant impact, both critically and commercially, which helped raise their profile internationally. It’s impressive that they were able to showcase their genre-bending capabilities and seamlessly transition between different styles on that album.

The release of their EP, “Past Tense,” in 2022 further demonstrated the band’s growth and willingness to explore new territories. By combining their characteristic post-punk energy with introspection, they showed a maturation in their musical journey.

As told by lyricist and singer Sean Borg “Nowhere is Everywhere, was meant to capture the band members’ transition from teens to adults and the importance of valuing and not wasting time”.

The Velts are a band to keep an eye on. With their continually expanding discography and reputation for high-octane performances, they are certainly pushing the boundaries of Maltese rock music.
