Watch: ‘Their Place Is With Us’ – Moviment Graffitti Protests For ‘Wrongfully Detained Men’
Safi Detention Centre saw an uproar of protest for migrants’ rights, namely five Ethiopian men who were said to have been raided and detained despite possessing legal documentation and paying taxes.
Moviment Graffitti hosted a protest yesterday evening in front of the Detention Centre where the men were being held. The organisation alongside supporters, plead for the release of the men.

“They currently face the prospect of being forcibly deported to Ethiopia, a country they have long left behind, where they face the risk of persecution.” says the organisation. “We cannot abide and standby as the authorities raid homes and disappear our friends and our colleagues. Their place is with us.”
An additional comment was made by the employer of one of the men:
“He demonstrated unwavering commitment to both his community and his workplace. He has paid taxes consistently and contributed positively to the local economy, proving himself to be a law-abiding and responsible member of society. In his time here, he has built strong relationships and integrated fully, living an honest life that reflects his dedication to the values of this country.”
The Ethiopian community was targeted by government raids last month despite the fact that many have lived and worked in the country for up to 20 years.
