Watch: Traffic Chaos? PN MP Calls Out Poor Planning During Morning Gridlock At Santa Venera Tunnels
Earlier this morning, PN MP Mark Anthony Sammut shared a video highlighting the chaotic traffic situation caused by roadworks under the Santa Venera tunnels during peak hours.
In his post, Sammut questioned the decision-making behind the works, which left the road unusable and resulted in significant delays for commuters across Malta.
“Who gave permission for the tarmac to be scraped under the tunnels this morning, in the middle of the week, during peak traffic hours, only to leave it in this state?” Sammut asked.
He raised concerns about whether the permit for the works included a condition to have the road reopened by 5am, and if Transport Malta officials were on-site to ensure that the work was being carried out on schedule.
“This mismanagement caused Malta to come to a standstill again this morning,” Sammut added, calling out what he described as repeated failures in planning and oversight.
The video has already sparked outrage among commuters, with many calling for better planning to avoid such disruptions during critical hours.
Transport Malta have not yet commented on the incident.
