What In The Mosta Nightmare? Random Traffic Sign Pops Up In The Middle Of Busy Road

If you live in Mosta or had to drive there at any point during the last few months (particularly the last few days) you know that the town’s roads have become an infrastructural nightmare.

But drivers were quite perplexed on Monday night when a random makeshift traffic sign showed up right in the middle of a busy Mosta road, held in place by bricks.

Triq il-Bażilika, formerly known as Triq il-Kbira, is currently one of the only roads which has been left untouched in Mosta, as never-ending road works are taking place along Triq id-Difiża Ċivili.

But a “dangerous manhole cover” led to a misplaced traffic sign to presumably warn drivers of it… you know, instead of fixing it.

In fact, it was so out of place that someone actually already moved it, and you can now find the traffic sign left discarded on the side of the road, as it was posing a considerable danger to drivers coming out of nearby side roads.

Lovin Malta reached out to a spokesperson at the Mosta local council to notify them about the traffic sign, and to enquire whether this was intentionally done.

“This sign was not placed by the council, as we do not have such signage. The council had filed a report that the manhole is in a dangerous state. Therefore, the sign was possibly placed as a temporary emergency, as from what I can understand this may collapse,” the spokesperson told Lovin Malta.

They continued to explain that the manhole covers the drainage system, and assured the newsroom they will be filing a report again on the matter.

While it might seem like a small ordeal, it’s just another accident waiting to happen on Malta’s roads. Prompt and proper action should always be a priority.
