Yoga, Crafts, And Music: Sunday At Ta’ Qali’s Picnic Area Celebrates Earth Day
With Earth Day being celebrated last weekend, Sunday at Ta’ Qali saw a community of people gather to mark the day at the latest Eco Market.
Yoga, sustainable crafts, artisanal products, potting of plants and herbs, and live entertainment by local artists were among the activities organised at the Ta’ Qali Picnic area.
“Showing our support to such events should be part of the ripple effect which we all seem to want… the ripple effect of the action that leads to positive change,” Yanica Fenech told Lovin Malta, a yoga teacher who was present on the day to give a free class.
“I believe that yoga is a discipline that compliments this as in its purest form Yoga means union,” she said.
“A healthy union that we create with the self, with those around us, and with our environment.”
The event, organised by Project Green in close collaboration with the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Enterprise and the Parliamentary Secretariat for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights, was a resounding success as hundreds of families gathered for a fun-filled day.
Children enjoyed participating in activities such as an educational puppet show, potting, grafting, and sensory box in which they could create their ideal open space.
Minister for the Environment, Energy, and Enterprise Miriam Dalli said such activities not only help us attract more visitors to the island’s open spaces but also serve as an educational platform on sustainability and the environment.
“The more events we organise, the more people attend and this gives us the positive energy to keep on going. On Earth Day, we wanted to show people how they can live a sustainable life and I am glad to see that people have responded to our call and joined us today at Earth Sunday,” said Dalli.
