Protestors gathered outside the Embassy of the United States in Malta to denounce the superpower’s “complicity to the ongoing genocide in Gaza” as well as its large part in arming Israel.

“The atrocities being committed by Israel against the Palestinian people are made possible through the military, political, and economic support provided by the United States. The weapons responsible for the slaughter of tens of thousands of children, women, and men in Gaza and Lebanon are predominantly supplied by the US,” Moviment Graffitti wrote on social media, tagging the other organisers of the demonstration: @thewatermelonwarriors,@youthforpalestine.mt and @gustizzjapal_es_tina.

Dozens of demonstrators showed up to Attard emboldened by Palestinian flags and keffiyehs to show support to the people who have been the victims of Israel’s extreme military campaign for over a year. However, the activists maintained that there is a long and oppressive history preceding this conflict, highlighting that this did not start on 7th October.

“76 years of Israeli impunity for crimes of colonialism, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing has culminated in this ongoing genocide. Yet, the United States and its allies continue their unwavering support for the State of Israel.”

They urged that the only solution to this aggression is to” end the financing of Israel’s genocidal machinery – not only by the United States but also by all countries complicit in perpetuating this historic injustice”.

Despite the extent of damage done, Israel continues its military campaign against Gaza and Lebanon. The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) struck the suburbs of Lebanon’s capital Beirut last night in its fifth consecutive day of intense attacks in the area. In the 24 hours between Friday and Saturday night, Israeli attacks killed at least 59 people and wounded another 182 across the country.

Meanwhile, approximately 35 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israel’s western Galilee area on Saturday morning, all of them falling into open areas, according to the IDF, which said there were no reported injuries.

Human Rights Watch released a detailed report documenting evidence of Israeli authorities causing “massive, deliberate forced displacement of Palestinian civilians in Gaza” since October 2023. The organisation even accused Israeli of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity.

So far, the IDF has killed at least 43,799 Palestinians in Gaza and wounded 103,601 since 7th October, 2023.

Just this morning, 15 Palestinians were killed in predawn attacks on Rafah and the Bureij refugee camp, while in the occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers stormed the village of Beit Furik and set fire to Palestinian homes and vehicles, correspondents of Al Jazeera reported.
