TVM Should Provide World Cup Commentary In Maltese, Sports Journalist Proposes
TVM should provide Maltese commentary for the 2022 World Cup, leading sports journalist and commentator Christian Micallef has proposed.
“I know that some people will completely disagree with me but I don’t care if I’m in a minority over here,” Micallef said. “I feel hurt that the national station is doing a great job in broadcasting all World Cup games but not providing Maltese commentary.”
“It’s true their numbers are small, but TVM colleagues are capable of commentating on football games. If the national station is broadcasting these games to a Maltese audience, they should give viewers a chance to enjoy commentary in their native language. I don’t think any other country in the world has acquired exclusive rights for the World Cup but then didn’t broadcast games in its own language.”
“Once again, I must stress that TVM has sports commentators who are capable of doing this job.”
