TVM sports journalist Joanna Camilleri has called out misogynistic comments made at her after she said the late Queen Elizabeth II would have been proud of England’s 6-2 victory over Iran yesterday.

Camilleri posted a number of Facebook comments, including by people who told her she “must be on her period” or that she should cut a better figure if she were to cook and clean at home.

Why so much damage? Why so much teasing? Why so much hate? Why so many insults? Why is everything done to break others?” Camilleri questioned.

“Why so much spitefulness when a person is doing their job properly to provide a service? I feel disappointed by these attacks that were made against me for no reason other than personal agendas.”

“Is this how you want to attract women to work? I accept criticism but not spitefulness. Is this how we want to help campaign against mental health? I am writing because I feel we have truly hit rock bottom.”
