A 10-year-old boy is currently fighting for his life after being caught between heavy machinery in Għasri, Gozo.

The incident took place earlier today at 12.30pm in in a field near Għasri.

Initial investigations revealed the young boy was caught between two machines.

A medical team as well as members from Civil Protection Department provided medical assistance on site and the boy was transported to Gozo General Hospital by ambulance where he was certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

The boy was later transported to Mater Dei Hospital by helicopter for further treatment.

Magistrate Bridgette Sultana is leading an inquiry while police and OHSA investigations are ongoing.
