An 11-year-old girl is currently fighting for her after being hit by a car in Mġarr.

Police were informed of the accident which occurred at 7am in Triq Fisher.

Police officers and a doctor from the emergency team gave the girl medical assistance.

Initial reports revealed the young girl was hit by a Peugeot 308 which was being driven by a 55-year-old man from San Pawl il-Baħar.

A medical team arrived on site to assist with the girl’s treatment and she was taken to Mater Dei where it was certified she had sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital due to the shock from the incident.

Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici is leading an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
