11-Year-Old Maltese Girl Spends Her Birthday Collecting €600 For Puttinu Cares

An inspirational young Maltese girl has shown just what it means to be selfless in this modern age after going through with an idea that she had for her birthday.

11-year-old Katrina Zammit wanted to give back to the community, and wanted to help Puttinu Cares, the beloved charity that helps Maltese children and families in their most desperate moments.

With her birthday coming up, Katrina asked her friends and family not to give her a present or a gift, but instead give a donation to Puttinu Cares – and she was able to raise hundreds doing so.

“Katrina Zammit is celebrating her 11th birthday. What a sweet special girl!! She took the initiative to raise funds for Puttinu instead of gifts and raised the sum of €600. What a kind, noble gesture,” the charity organisation said.

Volunteering and giving one’s time to charities or NGOs is relatively common in Malta – but it is truly heartwarming to see it in a little 11-year-old girl.

We can only hope that others – both her age and above – are inspired by her idea and try to replicate it.
