’12 Months Later And Still Can’t Believe You’re Gone’: Marie Claire Lombardi Remembered One Year On From Rabat Tragedy

The brother-in-law of a woman who unexpectedly lost her life following a freak road incident has opened up about how hard it is to accept that Marie Claire Lombardi is really gone.
“One year has already passed from that night when fate took you from us, Marie Claire,” Gino Lombardi said, sharing a photo of the motorcyclist.
“A night that we will remember for our entire lives. Even though 12 months have passed we still cannot believe that we will not see you anymore. The joy you used to bring with you wherever you went, your sincere smile was contagious to everyone around you.”
“Now that you are near the Lord, I pray that you continue to look over my brother Aldo, who you used to love so much and who loves you dearly.”
“We will never forget you!”
Marie Claire lost her life after skidding due to a slippery material – believed to be olive paste – being left on the road on 22nd October near Rabat.
A 79-year-old man from Dingli, Joseph Cortis, stands accused of involuntarily causing the 45-year-old motorcyclist’s death. He has since been released on bail.
