150 Victims Supported At Gozo’s First Domestic Violence Hub

In less than a year, 150 people have used the services of the first dedicated hub for vulnerable victims and victims of domestic violence in Gozo.
Of these cases, 113—around 75%—were brought before the courts, facing a variety of charges.
The centre, located in Victoria, opened in September 2024 and provides a range of professional services, from police officers and social workers to trained experts from the FSWS and the Domestic Violence Risk Assessment Service.
It is the first of its kind on the island and operates daily with constant police presence.
Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri praised the work being done, noting that in recent years resources for the Police Force had tripled, and specialist squads were established to better assist victims. He also highlighted new tools such as panic alarm buttons, rolled out nationwide.
Camilleri added that plans are underway for a second hub in Mtarfa, ensuring wider access to specialised services.
