Maltese boxer Steve Martin raised as much as €10,771 during his Boxing Day challenge for young Kate Ferriggi.

The challenge, which saw Martin do 1,640 burpees during a Facebook live feed, was aimed at collecting funds for Kate.

Kate, who is three years old, suffers from a very rare disease named Tatton Brown Rahman Syndrome, leading to having to spend around €2,500 a month for treatment.

Steve challenged himself to complete as many burpees as possible within a three-hour window in order to raise funds for Kate, after being inspired by her story.

The former WBF Welterweight World Champion stated that completing Kate’s challenge is a much bigger accomplishment than the world title.

“I came up with Kate’s 1€ Burpee challenge ’cause it means a lot to me if I can help this beautiful girl! For me, it’s a bigger accomplishment than winning a world title!” Steve told Lovin Malta.

Well done Steve!
