A total of 18 medicines on the government formulary list are currently out of stock in Malta, with the majority of them having two weeks left until they are restocked.

The government’s list was updated just yesterday, confirming the medicines which are currently not available on the island.

The majority of medicines are out of stock due to sourcing issues which have impacted a large number of EU member states, causing a widespread shortage.

The shortage has impacted almost every pharmaceutical class – from antibiotics to cough syrups and eye drops.

Many have already reported the difficulties found when trying to obtain medicine for their illnesses.
