18-Year-Old Russian Woman And Moldovan Man Arrested In 25kg Cocaine Bust In Malta
Two people have been arrested after allegedly attempting to bring 25kg of cocaine into the island.
The pair, an 18-year-old Russian woman and a 24-year-old Moldovan man, were arrested by members of the Anti-Drug Trafficking Squad as they were getting off a catamaran from Sicily last night.
Police, who were working on information they had, found the cocaine hidden in the petrol tank of the vehicle the pair were using. The cocaine had been split into 25 different packets.
Police estimate the drugs have a street value of around €2.2 million.
Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit has opened an inquiry into the find while police investigations continue.
