At least 184 people have been repatriated after being found in Malta without the appropriate documents.

The 184 were found in localities such as Paola, Fgura, Marsa, Ħamrun, Attard, St Paul’s Bay and Gozo during a number of weekly raids carried out by the Home Affairs Ministry to combat undocumented migrants.

The ministry said the migrants were sent to countries within Africa, Asia, Middle East And South America. Around 208 people were arrested in total during these raids.

At least one person was charged in court over illegalities found during these raids.

“This continued work in the heart of localities is part of the strategy aimed towards creating safer towns where we send a strong message to anyone breaking the law – and how it will not be tolerated,” the ministry said.
