A 20-year-old woman is at risk of dying after an accident that left her caught between two cars in Mellieħa this morning.

Around 11.15am, police were informed of an accident on Triq il-Marfa in Mellieħa, involving two vehicles, an Isuzu Elf and Opel Astra. They were driven by a 57-year-old from Ħaż-Żebbuġ and a 44-year-old from Għajnsielem.

An ambulance took the young woman to hospital, where she was certified as suffering from serious injuries. Members from the Civil Protection Department were also on the scene.

An investigation is underway.
