A 22-year-old woman lost her life after rocks fell from the cliff in Wied il-Għajn.

Police were informed of the incident which took place at 3.00pm in the area known as Munxar, limits of St Thomas Bay.

A medical team together with members from the Civil Protection Department went immediately to the scene to assist .

The young woman from Siġġiewi was taken to Mater Dei hospital by ambulance but unfortunately was certified dead moments later.

Magistrate Antoine Agius Bonnici is leading an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
