A 22-year-old man was reported at risk of dying after falling five storeys from a construction site in Msida earlier today.

However, police later clarified the man fell in a shaft in a block of apartments in Triq Johnny Catania.

At 2pm, the police were informed that assistance was needed due to the incident.

The police immediately went to the scene, and from preliminary investigations carried out, it was determined that the man, who is Syrian, fell from a height.

A medical team was called to the scene to assist, and an ambulance transported him to Mater Dei Hospital, where it was certified that he suffered serious injuries.

Magistrate Ian Farrugia was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.
