22-Year-Old Man Injures Policeman In Violent Ħamrun Arrest

A 22-year-old man from Chad was arrested during a violent confrontation after Ħamrun police were called to investigate reports of alleged car break-ins.

The incident took place at 10.45pm last night after police answered reports of a suspicious man attempting to break into a number of cars parked in Ħamrun.

Upon searching the area, they did not find the man in question. Nevertheless, they continued with their search until they found an individual matching the suspect’s description walking on Mile End road.

Police confronted the man, but he fled the scene as soon as he saw them. A pursuit followed and culminated in the arrest of the suspect.

Upon his capture, the suspect refused to cooperate and resisted arrest violently. One policeman was injured as a result of the scuffle.

A resulting search led police to find a number of stolen items, including mobiles and watches amongst other things.

Police investigations remain underway
