250,000 Litres Of Water Used To Put Out Kordin Blaze As Firefighters Battled For Hours
Around 25 emergency responders spent hours fighting a fire that erupted within an industrial area of Kordin Industrial Estate.
Cars, trucks, trailers, boats and tyres caught on fire after the blaze erupted within a large field within the zone. Approximately 250,000 litres of water as well as 2,500 litres of foam were used to extinguish the fire as officers worked hard to ensure the fire doesn’t spread and the danger is contained. A drone was also used in the operation.
The fire started at around 1.20pm Sunday afternoon, and no one was injured in the blaze.

In a public message, members of the Civil Protection Unit thanked the Malta Police Force, Transport Malta, CPD Volunteer, St. John Rescue Corps, the Emergency Medical Team and the Emergency Fire and Rescue Unit.
Throughout the summer, Malta has been hit by regular fires erupting across the island, be they wildfire or an urban fire. The public has taken to social media to show their appreciation to emergency workers risking their safety to ensure everyone else’s in the face of danger.
