27 Irregular Migrants Arrested In Marsa Police Operation

27 irregular migrants were arrested in a police operation in Marsa earlier today. 

In a statement, police said that the operation took place across Triq is-Serkin, Triq il-Ġerrejja and Triq it-Tiġrija in the area. 

Following, the operation, police found that 27 people were living in Malta illegally. However, no details were given on their nationalities.

Investigations are currently underway. However, work is now being done to depart the persons back to their home country.

This arrest forms part of an initiative to clamp down on irregular migrants in the country who do not have the necessary documentation.

Recently, police arrested 13 irregular migrants in Gozo and are set to deport them.
