A 28-year-old cyclist from Mellieħa is fighting for his life after falling from his bike in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq today.

Police were informed at around 9:45am that there was a cyclist lying on the ground on Coast Road in Baħar Iċ-Ċagħaq.

Initially, it was unclear whether the cyclist fell on his own for some reason, or whether someone else was involved.

However, police investigations revealed that he lost balance and fell.

He was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where it was confirmed that he had suffered serious injuries.

The case was reported to Magistrate Joe Mifsud, who has opened an inquiry into the matter.
