A 29-year-old woman and two men aged 26 and 37 have been arrested in relation to the violent robbery which occurred in Żurrieq over the weekend.

The incident left the 67-year-old gold shop owner fighting for his life, as he was found tied to a chair with serious wounds on his body. 

Investigations by police identified and located the robbers in no time, who were found hiding in an abandoned building in Sliema.

Police circled the building yesterday evening and successfully captured them, even though they tried to escape from the site.

They are currently being detained at the Police lock-up in Floriana.
