35-Year-Old Diver Found Dead Near St Paul’s Islands

The 35-year-old diver that went missing yesterday afternoon has been found dead next to St Paul’s Islands.

On 11th August around 5.30pm, Police were called to the area between Buġibba and St Paul’s Islands. 

The Police immediately went to the scene and from an investigation, it turned out that a 35-year-old resident of Għaxaq was diving in those areas and did not resurface.

Members of the Armed Forces of Malta and the Civil Protection Department started an intensive search and rescue, both by a team of divers and by patrol boat and helicopter.

Unfortunately, this morning, around 8.45am, Police were informed that a body was spotted in the area of​ St Paul’s Islands.

It was shortly confirmed that it was a 35-year-old man. Later the body was taken to the Maritime Base in Xatt-it-Tiben.

Magistrate Monica Vella is leading the inquiry. Several experts have been also appointed to assist it.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
