The man who tragically drowned while swimming in Comino last Wednesday has been identified as Salvatore Palmentieri, a 35-year-old from Naples, Italy.

The incident happened in the afternoon at the popular Blue Lagoon while Palmentieri was on holiday in Malta.

He was rushed to Gozo General Hospital but sadly died shortly after being admitted.

A magisterial inquiry, led by Magistrate Brigitte Sultana, is underway.
